Paper barrier coatings
Evaluate coating uniformity, continuity and oxygen and water-vapour transport under intended use conditions.

Lignocellulosic materials for sustainable barrier systems. NeoPack is NeoNaar’s development platform for paper coatings, biopolymer films and fibre-based packaging.
Collaborative validation underway
Evaluate coating uniformity, continuity and oxygen and water-vapour transport under intended use conditions.
Investigate cellulose and lignocellulosic materials in biopolymer films and bio-based composite structures.
Explore mechanical reinforcement and application-specific coating formation. No validated barrier rating is claimed.
NeoPack explores how controlled residual lignin, cellulose structure and fibrillation influence coating formation and barrier performance. Lignin affects surface chemistry, water interaction, colour and interactions with other materials.
Different residual lignin levels are being investigated for film formation, coating continuity, water interaction, oxygen transport and mechanical behaviour.
NeoNaar is working with CoE BioPack, IIT Madras to investigate the influence of residual lignin content in MFC-based coatings for paper and biopolymer films. The programme is designed to evaluate barrier performance, coating uniformity and mechanical behaviour across materials with different residual lignin levels.
These are validation objectives, not established improvements in oxygen or water-vapour barrier performance.
